Chapter 9: The Rise of Power CastesIn India they have a caste system, where society is stratified according to family birth, wealth, and other factors. Such systems exist in other countries as well, such as England. The division there between the wealthy and poor, lords and labor predates America. America, also, had its caste system: Slave and free. This was abolished officially in the 1860’s, but only practically saw the beginning of its end in the 1950’s. Today, American blacks are moving into the middle class in record numbers, enjoying its wealth, leisure and conservative values. (In fact, the slaves in early America were Producers.) But there is another caste system in America, the Paraducer caste. These are multiple Paraducer groups and are not so well recognized as individual castes, but each operating in parallel to one another, independently. Remember, a Paraducer produces no new or unique product or service of benefit to society. They provide services to Producers and Consumers, and structure the system as needed to preserve their niche and consolidate their power. Let’s look at some Paraducer power castes. |
