    Being an Individual

There’s something else I must urge you to explore with your children and other Producers in your cell group: Individualism.

The Paraducers despise individualism when it asserts itself because a Producer asserting him- or herself is the defeat of the Paraducer. Hillary Clinton said in 1993:

“We must stop thinking of the individual and start thinking about what is best for society.”

Ted Kennedy has uttered similar nonsense. Now when the Paraducers in Washington D.C. start parroting the same trash thinking, it’s time for Producers to take notice and do something about it.

That something is to be an individual. Think like one. Act like one. Counter the trend by not just wearing a different pattern on your Hawaiian flower shirt, but by pursuing truth! Pursue right! Pursue justice! Pursue excellence! Look, the non-individual collectivist droid from the projects of New York is no threat to the Paraducers like Hillary, because he cannot balance his checkbook. He doesn’t even have a checkbook! He lives out of a mason jar, or shoe box, and he found that in an alley.

But you, Producer, are no gray uniformed droid. You have a brain and you use it, and that makes you very, very dangerous, thank God.

Not only must we be individuals, we must teach others to be individuals in their own right, with their own likes and hates. Don’t you see, Hillary is just as threatened by an individualist liberal Democrat as an individualist conservative Republican, simply because she cannot control either.

It’s impossible for Hillary or Teddy to control three hundred million individuals, but quite easy (with the proper application of government checks) to control one group of a hundred or two million Consumer and Paraducer Americans. We must be individuals.

I live in the country, and about once a year we have an infestation of ants. Seems they are everywhere, crawling all over the outside of the house. Quite disconcerting. But these ants are not individuals; they range from the same nest. All I have to do is follow the trail of drones back to the nest and apply some insect killer at the source. Within 24 hours, all the ants are dead. I do not have to kill 10,000 ants individually, because they are not individuals, but a collective, easy to control, and even kill.

That’s what the Paraducers want of us, an easy to control collective.

With my kids, I love finding out how they differ and what they are passionate about. One loves dance, the other reading and writing. Each is creative in her own way. And they will grow into different careers with opposing views on some issues, and that’s fine with me. The last thing I should do as a father is produce cookie cutter children who are susceptible to some collectivist doctrine. My wife and I teach them the importance of God and truth, and those things will filter out most of the evil that assails them.

Strive for the things that others want you to strive for and you will lose that individualism and your own identity. Strive for the things you love and you will find that you are an individual.
