      Taking Care of Ourselves

As Producers, we make the world work. From the least craftsman in China to the most brilliant inventor, we must survive or the world will not survive. To survive as a Producer group we obviously must survive as individuals.

To do that, we need to exercise some common sense regarding health and diet. What I am going to tell you now may seem trivial, but how many Producers do you know who smoke tobacco? Several? That proves my advice is needed.

You see, we must take care of ourselves if we are not to be dependent upon Paraducers, if we are to have full lives as Producers. What a pity it is when I see an old person in a nursing home. I ask the family what he did in life and they tell me that he was a machinist with the railroad, or a furniture maker, or a scientist with the university. But here he lay, connected to a respirator at not even age 70. What a waste.

Do not let that be you. Producer, take care of the body that God gave you. Eat right, sleep right, exercise. Do you smoke? Shame on you! Switch on all of your brain and see what it’s doing to your body.

I have watched two smokers in my family die. In their last hours, smokers’ lungs cannot take in enough air, so their diaphragms and rib cages work overtime to inhale. Even unconscious, their chests heave uncontrollably, and they get barrel-chested in only a few days. That was my mother, at 82 pounds, a smoker since her teens. It is a tragedy and horror to witness as the body claws for life, gasping for more oxygen. Thank you, tobacco.

Tobacco addiction is the ultimate Paraducer dependency. The Paraducers in Congress pass laws restricting the use of tobacco in public places because that is politically correct. But will they ever ban its use outright? Never! Tobacco is a dependency investment in your body, and they know toward the end of your life you will inevitably become dependent upon the state and other Paraducers for your very breath.

So stop smoking, and stop now. Don’t do dope, either. This is a perfect opportunity for you to practice some self discipline. We need you healthy.

What other habits do you have, what vices? We all have some. Look for repetitive activities that you do every day and ask yourself, is this healthy for me? Look over this list:

      • Do I consume soft drinks habitually?
      • Do I consume the same processed food(s) every day?
      • Do I engage in risky sexual behavior?
      • Do I engage in unhealthy behavior?
      • Do I take risks with my life on the road?
      • Do I lead a sedentary lifestyle?
      • Do I eat junk food and avoid a balanced diet?
      • Do I have medical problems I ignore?
      • Do I need to lose weight?

This is not a makeover book, so I’m not going to go into these in detail. But you, Producer, have a good brain and you can answer each of these questions honestly. The goal is for you to live life in a healthy way, having a lot of it, every minute being a productive joy.

There’s something I should warn you of. When you remove something bad from your life, do not leave a void, else your restless brain will fill it up with something worse! Fill that void with something better, consciously. For example, if you are cutting out television, get out of the house and fill that time with family and friends, or a new hobby. Learn to dance or take a class. You have 144 hours a week, make every one count.
