    Appendix A: The Tea Parties

Since the first writing of this work in 2005, many terrible things have happened in America. The worst, of course, is the destruction of the economy by 1) the left wing news media during the 2008 election campaign, and 2) the right wing news media after the 2008 election campaign.

From my perspective as a Producer in America, I see no fundamental structural problems, aside perhaps from the automotive unions' destruction of the auto companies and the government-forced loans to bad credit risks that killed the housing boom. The world has too many auto makers and airlines in any case, and some consolidation is in order, bankruptcy being the healthy composting process of economics. Many thousands of people lose their homes to bankruptcy each year, and the extra foreclosures created by government 'diversity' lending programs could have easily been absorbed by the economy, had the media not gone on such a whining binge. So some families move back into rentals, and some renting families (who know how to save money) purchase foreclosed homes -- happens all the time.

The ensuing 'fix' by the Bush and Obama administrations, the bailouts, have driven a few more nails into America's coffin lid. The backlash to this foolishness is a sight to behold. Conservatives and Producers nationwide spontaneously organized Tea Party rallies early in 2009, and this spirit of economic rebellion is continuing. If I were self-serving, I would think that this book had finally influenced enough people to act. However, that is obviously not the case, and thank goodness for that, because a movement based on one person's vision is bound to either fail or flounder. No, this movement is the result of personally felt revulsion to the 535+1 person economic rape gang that has been terrorizing our nation from within since the New Deal.

I have attended several Tea Parties and associate gatherings in 2009. The character of the movement is stunning. When I listen to fellow rebels, they may as well be quoting my work here. I was sitting with three other people at one rally, people I did not know prior, and one lady asked me if I had read Atlas Shrugged, the novel by Ayn Rand. I was shocked that she, a nurse by trade, had read that book, not an easy read. But she had, and her husband suggested I read The 5000 Year Leap, by Skousen. These two people were also talking to me about their hunting outings and country way of life. Here we had two Virginia country folks promoting two rather involved books. Gun owners to boot! I loved it.

In one meeting, the moderator asked the crowd what kind of changes they would like to see in America. Hands shot up all over the room. Over here a housewife demanded that all laws apply to Congress as they apply to the citizens. Over there a man who looked to be eighty demanded that each bill before Congress be published for two weeks before a vote. And it went on and on, with ordinary citizens demonstrating their informed intellect regarding our Constitution and government. This was thrilling to me, that the ignored, unappreciated citizenry of flyover country was awakening.

What I have seen at these Tea Party events is a huge group of independent thinking leaders. The Tea Party movement is not terribly organized, and it does not have to be organized. We are not unthinking liberals who have to be coaxed to the polls with a carton of cigarettes. Each of us has an understanding of the world, basic economics, morality and justice, and we make decisions on that basis, not on the basis of how it will affect our government check. That's a good thing, but it does mean that organizing economic conservatives is like herding cats, because everyone has his own ideas and direction. That's not bad, because I know that each Producer is out there in society acting according to principles I believe and trust, whether in his business or her home or their church.

If you are a person who is irked by the lack of organization, lighten up. You need to trumpet the principles that made our nation great, and just stand back and watch. Some people will organize for this or that purpose, and some people will act alone or with their families. This is all good, as long as they are all acting on their Producer principles. Trust them.

I was walking through the crowd of one Tea Party rally where I had been invited to speak. In a crowd, I reflexively check my wallet every few seconds, just to be sure it has not been lifted. I found myself doing the same in that crowd, but then I realized that I could take my wallet and toss it on the ground and walk away. As long as my cell phone number was inside, I would receive a call within 15 minutes that my wallet had been found. You see, these Tea Party radicals are actually decent, trustworthy individuals who care about fellow citizens and follow the Golden Rule.

When speaking to the crowd of about 1,800, I wanted to get their blood moving since they had been hearing from several bland politicians. I told them I was not sure I was in the right place, and I wanted to give them a little test. So I yelled, "GOD BLESS...", and they yelled in response, "AMERICA!". We were standing on the banks of a river, across which was a sheer bluff. The echo was chilling as they shouted at the top of their lungs. There was no hesitation, no delay, just a flood of love for the America they envision. Awesome.

It has been a terrific encouragement to me to get to know many others who hold the values I outline in this book. We amount to perhaps 20% of the population, but we are working with adults and kids to teach them values and a work ethic, something they are not receiving in public school, and sometimes not at home. Finally something has happened to trigger the ire of Producers, motivating them to take our country back from the weak minded. I pray that this is the beginning of the recovery of more than the economy, but the recovery of our spirit as a nation.
